Long Island Fringe is in its third year. FRING FORCE 3 will take over the grounds of the School of Visual & Performing Arts (SVPA)
Today there are fringe festivals all over the world. With that in mind we, The Artists Group – Long Island, NY, decided it was about time to hold one on Long Island. So, after our FIRST display at multi-discipline theater in 2008, we continued on a journey in 2009 to bring fringe to Long Island.
We felt that Long Island was the perfect environment to introduce fringe to this area, because of the large volume of talented individuals that have come from the Island and to made their way into entertainment, politics and other high profile lifestyles. Generously endowed with an enormous abundance of creative talent, fringe has been embraced by the creative community here.
Controversy has also, followed us. In our beginning attempts to promote our festival, we were met with obstacles right from the start. NYC FRINGE accused us of “stealing their name.” 2009 we launched fringe for the very first time. Because of the nature of media in this century it is often difficult to strategize how to get the news out to the public.
